8/15/05 (con't) New Business Sylvia Garrison (Monroe County) spoke about the upcoming Fall Conference which will be held at Caesar’s Indiana in Harrison County from September 25 – 28. She will be getting together a gift basket for 8 bottles of wine from local wineries. Various counties are to contact Sylvia (sgarrison@co.monroe.in.us, or 812-349-2542) after they have collected the wine. Sandy Wallace (Monroe County), Graham McKeen (Brown County), and Vivie Dunn (ISDH) will be performing at the Fall Conference Talent Show, which will be held Tuesday, September 27 at 7:30 PM in the Caesar’s Coliseum. Vivie Dunn made a motion that our Chapter pay Steve Cale (ISDH) $100 for a framed photograph to be given away at the conference. Pat Fowler seconded the motion; the motion passed unanimously. Diane Knies mentioned that the Chapter usually donates $200 to the IEHA for the Fall Conference. Vivie Dunn made a motion that we again donate the $200; Bob Schmidt (Monroe County) seconded the motion and the motion passed. David Lamm, Boone County Solid Waste District Director and IEHA Legislative Liason, asked that you check out the IEHA website at www.iehaind.org. The General Environmental Services Committee (GESC) of the IEHA is conducting a Local Ordinance Survey. Please call Sharon Adams (Boone County) at 765-483-4458 to request your copy of the survey. This will help provide information to members about what is working or not working around the state, and to aid in the sharing of information. Please e-mail John Kennard (jkennard3@yahoo.com) with comments to the following questions: Does your county charge septic contractors a registration fee? For how long is this registration good? Must they follow any specific requirements? (for example, must they be bonded?) Do you have a penalty for bad contractors? Vivie Dunn suggested that our Chapter retain the same officers for next year. Pat Fowler made a motion to that effect which was seconded by Vivie Dunn. The motion passed and all officers agreed to serve another year. Chapter Secretary Tracy Monroe (Harrison County) sent a card on August 18 to Lee Bray (ISDH), who is battling liver cancer. The next meeting will be November 15, 2005, at the Golden Corral in Bedford. Details will follow. 2006 meeting dates and places have been agreed to. Meetings will be held on Tuesdays. They are as follows: February 21, 2006 – Stoll’s Lakeside Restaurant, West Boggs Park, Loogootee, Martin County May 16, 2006 – Schnitzelbank Restaurant, Jasper, Dubois County August 15, 2006 – Overlook Restaurant, Leavenworth, Crawford County November 21, 2006 – Mayfield’s MCL Cafeteria, Bloomington, Monroe County Other Business None Mr. Kennard moved to adjourn the meeting at 12:45 PM.
